As Hurricane Irene stomped her way up through Vermont on Sunday, people in Montpelier were urged to stay in their homes if possible, and my lay leader, guest preacher, and I made the decision to cancel the worship service at Trinity UMC. I did, however, record a video message and upload it to the church’s facebook page as a sort of experiment, and so I include that for your viewing pleasure.

The church building remained dry, which is a small miracle in itself. Prayers continue for a few members of my congregation who have lost homes and businesses in this disaster, and deep sympathy to the families in our state who have lost loved ones or are still searching for the missing.
May Christ who stilled the storm give us peace.
