Sermon: End of the Rope

“End of the Rope”

(February 6, 2011) The beatitudes (“blessed are the…”) can lend themselves to some difficult interpretation sometimes, as we struggle to see how Jesus could call poverty or persecution a blessing. A new reading of the passage, however, brings perhaps a new light, and reminds us that when we are at the end of our rope, we see less of ourselves and more of God. This ‘sermon’ is more of a brief reflection, and a reading of the beatitudes from The Message (Matthew 5:1-12)

I really don’t know what is causing the extra hissing on my S sounds. I think I may have my mic wire too close to my mouth, and have been experimenting with placement. Ssssssorry about thisssss.
