Sermon: Believe It

“Believe It.”

(January 9, 2011) Most of us spend our lives seeking connection, love and belonging. If only there were a place that taught that we are loved unconditionally. If only we could all be helped to see that we are all children, held in our Parent’s hands, and told we are beloved, we are cherished, we belong. Someone claims you, Someone loves you. If only we could hear, again and again, “you are my child, I love you, I am pleased with you no matter what.” God tells us this very thing; the hard part is believing it. (Matthew 3:13-17)

This sermon references a TED talk lecture on vulnerability by Brene Brown, a sermon “You are Accepted” by Paul Tillich, and a children’s book, You Are Special, by Max Lucado.
