Sermon: Careful what you wish for

copy for online coins pennies tarnished“Careful what you wish for”

(August 16, 2009) When presented the opportunity to ask God for any blessing imaginable, King Solomon asked for the wisdom to rule well, demonstrating that he was willing to let God work in him rather than expecting God to work to change the world around him. What we wish for– or pray for– says a lot about us. Are we praying as if we were wishing, asking for things that serve our own needs, or are we praying that God transform us? (1 Kings 2:10-12, 3:3-14)
