Sermon: Whose Image?

Whose Image?

(October 16, 2011) Dodging a question meant to be a trap, Jesus recasts a conversation about politics and taxes as a deeper, more spiritual question. Balancing the tasks of living in the world with living as God’s people is never easy, and now as then we are in need of a spiritual and moral perspective in our discussion of economic policies. (Matthew 22:15-22)

Sermon: Until We Get it Right

“Until We Get it Right”

(October 9, 2011) The ink– or chisel mark– is barely dry on the Ten Commandments when the people of Israel violate the first and create a new god and a new idol to worship. If that were the last time God’s people messed up, it might be okay, be we are constantly making the same mistakes over and over. The good news is that God forgives us and lets us try again. How long until we get it right? (Exodus 32:1-14, and the modern text of the Occupy Wall Street movement)

Upload problems

Hi folks, bear with me please. I’m having difficulty with the program I use to upload my sermons, but I hope I can get it resolved soon.

Blessings!

Sermon: Promises, Promises

“Promises, Promises”

(October 2, 2011 – World Communion Sunday) How often do we find that we, like the second son, say we will do something in service to God, but later find that we cannot or will not follow through? No matter how good our intentions, we must live out the words we speak so that they are more than empty promises.  (Matthew 21:23-32)
